Thank you for your interest in boys team charity, Marin League (btc Marin)!  boys team charity is a volunteer service organization dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men 7th-12th grades through active participation of parents and sons in philanthropic projects in their community.

Our prospective member drive for 2024-2025 has closed.  If you are interested in applying for btc Marin League, please check back in March 2025 to complete the Prospective Member App.

Goals

1.  Serve the Community: Develop a sense of social responsibility.

2.  Promote Personal Growth: Build self esteem and a giving spirit.

3.  Strengthen Family Relationships:  Deepen bonds with parents by working together in boys team charity.

4. Develop Leadership Skills:  Cultivate respect and an appreciation of others by working as a team, developing leadership skills, and creating friendships.

5. Provide Educational Opportunities:  Provide young men with experiences that foster their community responsibilities and goals.

 



Facts & Requirements

  • Terminology: Boys are “TeamMates” and Parents are “Coaches”.
  • Operating Year: Our annual operating year is May 1st through April 30th
  • Annual Membership Drive: New members may apply to join btc anytime during the annual membership drive during their 6th through 12th grade year. Boys are assigned to “teams” by the grade which they will enter in the fall of that membership year. Teams are referred to by their high school graduating year. 
  • Numbers: There are 25-30 TeamMates in each team (by grade). We maintain a waitlist of interested candidates should we not have openings in a particular team.
  • Boundary:  btc Marin League applicants are eligible for membership if they reside in OR attend a school located within the geographical boundaries established for Redwood High School and Tamalpais High School by the Tamalpais Unified School District.  If you have questions regarding whether you meet the boundary requirement, please reach out.
  • General Meeting Requirements: btc has three (3) General Membership meetings per year (usually August/September, January/February, and April/May) that both the TeamMate and Coach(es) should attend; two (2) are required. 
  • Team Meeting Requirements: btc has at least three (3) additional grade level meetings per year; two (2) are required
  • Philanthropy Hours Requirements: Annual Philanthropy Service Hours requirements for both boys and parent(s) (please note that all of our volunteering is always performed in parent-son teams, not individually): 
                Grade  7, 8, & 9........................15 hours each
                Grade 10, 11, & 12....................10 hours each
  • Annual League Hours Requirements: both TeamMates and Coach(es): 6 hours minimum each (earned by attending general or grade level meetings as mentioned above)
  • Parent Leadership Volunteer Requirements: btc is a volunteer organization that is operated by parent volunteers. All parent members are expected to volunteer for a 2 year commitment in a leadership capacity during tenure with btc Marin.
  • Annual Financial Requirements: Each league has annual membership dues that are used to cover the cost of operating the league (insurance, website, speakers, venues, activities, etc.).  Our Dues for the 2024-2025 calendar year are:
    • TeamMate plus one or two Coaches (parents).........$175
    • Additional TeamMate...........................................$100
